FBR IRIS Practice Simulator – Rehearse Your Income Tax Return

Walk through the same shape as a salaried individual's 114(1) Return of Income on IRIS — login, personal details, salary income, tax chargeable, wealth statement and verification — with a live progress tracker, real slab-based tax computation, and a practice acknowledgment receipt at the end.

New here? Click this once and every field below fills in with example figures, so you can just press "Save & Continue" through all 6 steps and see exactly how a real return flows — no need to gather your own numbers first.

Step 1 of 6 — Log In to IRIS (Practice)

On the real portal you'd log in with your CNIC/NTN and IRIS password at iris.fbr.gov.pk. This practice version skips that screen entirely — just press Continue below to jump straight into the return.

This simulator uses the same salaried-individual slab rates as our Income Tax Calculator (Finance Act 2025 for Tax Year 2026, and Finance Act 2026-27 for Tax Year 2027), but simplifies the real 114(1) form — it does not cover every schedule, tax credit, exemption, or attachment the actual IRIS return may require. It is an independent practice tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Federal Board of Revenue. Always file your real return at iris.fbr.gov.pk, and confirm anything unusual in your situation with a tax practitioner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the real FBR IRIS portal?

No. This is an independent practice simulator built by Pakistan Tax Calculator to help you rehearse the return-filing flow before you use the real thing. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Federal Board of Revenue in any way. To file an actual return, go to iris.fbr.gov.pk.

Does anything I type here get saved or sent to FBR?

No. Everything you enter stays in your browser tab only, held in memory for this session — nothing is transmitted to FBR, to us, or saved anywhere. Refreshing or closing the page clears it completely.

Which tax year's slabs does the calculation use?

You can choose either Tax Year 2026 or 2027 in Step 2 (FBR names a tax year by the calendar year it ends in — Tax Year 2026 covers 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026). Step 4's tax computation uses the same salaried-individual slab rates as our Income Tax Calculator, based on the Finance Act 2025 and Finance Act 2026-27.

What does it mean if my wealth statement doesn't reconcile?

IRIS requires that your opening net assets, plus your income for the year, minus tax paid and personal expenses, equal your closing net assets (total assets minus liabilities). If those don't match, real IRIS blocks submission until you fix the mismatch — usually caused by an asset, loan, or expense that wasn't accounted for. This simulator flags the same imbalance so you can get comfortable finding and fixing it before it matters.

Can I use this to actually file my tax return?

No. This only rehearses the general flow with a simplified version of the real form, and doesn't submit anything anywhere. File your actual return only through FBR's official IRIS portal, and consult a tax practitioner for anything beyond a straightforward salaried return.
